                                                                               2012 WinterBlast
                                                                     Sara Park, Lake Havasu, AZ
                                                                                    16-20 Feb

The annual WinterBlast, held each February on Presidents weekend  in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, has become
one of those special things that makes life fun.  It is a 4 night firework extravaganza, to make all those other
firework shows humdrum in comparison.  The event is actually the Western Pyrotechnics Convention and
Fireworks Show.  They are a non-profit group of firework professionals and hobbyist who’ve joined together to
promote their shared interest; the safe and legal use of all types of fireworks. Each year WinterBlast attracts
tourist and visitors into the community for a weekend of fireworks and fun. So if you plan to be at the next show
and need a hotel, make your reservations early!  We are lucky, we do not need reservations, we are going to
    boondock and that is free.

DIRECTIONS:  THE STEPS.  Old mining area, known by some as the Steps. No size limit, level, dirt road.
Physically, the land is north of Parker Dam on Hwy 95, South of town between MM (Mile Marker) 165 & MM 166
on the East side, where the high tension power line crosses the road, there is an inlet to parking.  It comes up
quick.  If you miss the driveway in, just turn around and try again.  Look for a group of RVs.  Last year it was on
the far end of the lower level.  If in doubt, call.  GPS coordinates are: N34 20.015, W114 08.214  USE CAUTION
when making a left turn from the north.

This is boondocking so no electric, no water, and no sewer.  Come with your tanks empty and your water tank
full.  Would suggest you bring something to make for a potluck and maybe an appetizer to share besides your
own meals.  We will have our BBQ there so you can use that.  Suggestion is to make food ahead of time and just
heat it up while there.  Keep things simple.  Generators can be used from 8am to 10pm.

The show takes place in Sara Park, 5 miles south of town on Hwy 95.  We will be driving in each night to watch
the show.  There is a $5 parking fee.  The show starts at dusk each evening.  The biggest show takes place on
Sat night so go early.  Bring chairs to use during the show.  Best type of chair is one that would lay back.

If you have any questions, email gretchendm@aol.com or JeffNCarole@aol.com.  If you are having trouble finding
the place, call Gretchen at 760-310-0700 or call Carole at 909-228-1002.  Please let us know if you are coming
via email so we can keep an eye out for you.

See you all at the STEPS near Lake Havasu.
